The Community and Economic Development Association of Cook County, also known as CEDA, has partnered with David Gomez and Associates to find a Chief Operating Officer.
Inspired by President Lyndon B. Johnson’s Economic Opportunity Act of 1963, CEDA joined the movement that came to be known as the “War on Poverty”. The largest of 40 Community Action Agencies in Illinois, CEDA has been serving the Cook County community for over 50 years. Their mission is to empower low-income individuals and communities by providing services that will allow for economic development. These services include, but are not limited to, health and nutrition, education, employment and training, and housing. CEDA offers these programs to help members of the community become self-sufficient, with the ultimate goal of improving their quality of life.
The position of Chief Operating Officer is responsible for the general management of ongoing business operations. The COO will collaborate with management team to develop, implement, and execute all programmatic, operational, and financial functions. This individual will be responsible for managing a group of Program Directors and administrative staff. The COO will publicly represent CEDA and will work on maintaining and developing external relationships as well as fundraising.
David Gomez & Associates is happy to announce that Herman Brewer has accepted this critical position. Previously employed at the Cook County Bureau of Economic Development as Bureau Chief, Herman brings with him 20+ years of experience. Herman’s accomplishments include leading community development research in exchange foundations and cities between the U.K and U.S. Herman also successfully led the planning, formation, and funding of the Cook County Land Bank Authority and City-County Workforce Partnership; led re-constitution of the Economic Development Advisory Committee; the formation of The President’s Council of Economic Advisors; and the County-Foundation Collaborative.
David Gomez & Associates would like to wish Herman the very best as the new Chief Operating Officer at CEDA!
